Land Based Volunteer Role

The Land-Based (LB) Volunteer is responsible for daily surf session check-in and check-out procedures, assisting participants with outfitting surfing gear, keeping an eye on the surfing trailer and equipment during the lesson, and assisting with clean-up at the end of the event day. Surfing experience is not required.

Ocean Safety Monitor Volunteer Role

The Ocean Safety Monitor (OSM) Volunteer is responsible for monitoring the safety of all surfing participants throughout the duration of the surfing session, both on land and in the ocean. This Volunteer also assists participants with getting outfitted with surfing gear, and assists with clean-up at the end of each session. In the rare case of an emergency, the OSM is required to activate and carry out the Emergency Action Plan (EAP). During the event, the OSM is responsible for having the AED, First Aid Kit, and a mobile phone on their person at all times. Surfing experience is not required.

Assistant Ocean Instructor Volunteer Role

The Assistant Ocean Instructor (AOI) Volunteer is responsible for helping outfit each participant with surfing gear, assisting participants as they safely enter and exit the ocean throughout the duration of the surfing session, helping participants catch waves in the ocean, assisting in the rare case of an emergency, and assisting with clean-up at the end of the event day. Surfing experience is required.
